All members of staff at the Reach Academy are committed to supporting our students succeed so that they can live lives of choice and opportunity. We believe that by creating a Careers Strategy which aligns with and is delivered through the ‘All Through’ ethos of the school, we can ensure that by the time our students leave the Reach Academy they are fully prepared to enter the world of work, Higher Education or further education. This document outlines the specific priorities and projects in place for each year group, along with the member of staff responsible for overall delivery of the Careers Strategy.
We believe that in line with the Gatsby Benchmarks for Excellent Careers Education, engagement with employers throughout the school lifetime is key to future readiness, and so whilst this document includes some of the projects our students are involved in, it is by no means an exhaustive list. Any queries regarding the delivery and priorities for each year group should be directed to the Career Lead.

Impact Measurement and Assessment of Careers Programme:
Our careers strategy is designed by reference to the Gatsby Benchmarks of excellent careers education. This means that by using the eight Gatsby benchmarks we have designed a programme which we hope ensures our students are prepared for the world of work when they leave the school at the age of 18. Our strategy is centred around frequent employer engagements, whether that is through our Year 11 and Year 12 work experience weeks, visit days to employers for targeted students or through providing mock interviews from a relevant professional on our Bright Futures Ahead day. We have recently undertaken a Compass analysis of our offering to ensure we are on track with the Government’s target of schools being fully compliant with the Gatsby benchmarks by 2020.
We frequently survey our students following a Careers engagement to determine whether it has been an engagement which allowed them to develop personally, professionally and academically. We will review our careers programme in September 2020.
