We are delighted to announce that Beck Owen, current Associate Headteacher and founding member of staff, will be the new Headteacher of Reach Academy Feltham. She will start her new role in September 2018.
Beck went through a demanding series of interviews with our Governing Body who praised her “passion, experience, knowledge and commitment”.
The appointment marks the next step in the development of Reach, with the ambitious Reach Hub, a cradle to career model of support in development, and Reach 2 due to open in the coming years. We are working with a number of schools and Multi-Academy Trusts to share our experiences and approach and are also exploring working in the Youth Justice sector. These developments will be led by the school’s founders, Ed Vainker and Rebecca Cramer, who will move into new roles of Executive Headteacher and Director of Education respectively.
Beck was a founding teacher at Reach, holding the posts of Head of English and then Deputy Headteacher. This year she has excelled as Associate Headteacher. Her experience at Reach has included overseeing teaching and learning and curriculum, and this year Beck has been in charge of Inclusion across Primary and Secondary. She was also responsible for the exceptional English GCSE results of our first cohort, which saw pupils achieving two grades above their targets and 90% achieve a strong pass.
Prior to working at Reach, Beck taught in Birmingham. She has a First Class degree in English from Cardiff and a Masters in Educational Leadership. This year she has has been part of the prestigious Getting Ahead London programme which has been supporting leaders into Headteacher roles.
Beck is delighted to have been appointed: “Reach is a unique school, and one that I have been proud to be a part of since we opened. It is a privilege to be appointed as Headteacher, and I look forward to building on everything we have achieved so far. I am eager to continue to do all I can do to provide the best school experience for our pupils and their families.”
