Fran graduated from the University of Oxford with a Master in Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry in 2013. Following this, Fran spent two years as a Science Teacher in Teesside, close to her home town, Newcastle, in the North East of England. Upon finishing the Teach First programme, Fran moved to Manchester to work as a Parental Engagement Officer, before returning to her training school as Co-Lead of Science. This year she has moved to London to be part of the team at Reach Academy and is very excited about her new job and living in the big city!
Egle graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies in 2014. During her time at University she volunteered and worked for a range youth and community organisations. Afterwards, Egle trained as an MFL teacher with Teach First in Bolton. In 2016 she moved to London to take up a position of Head of EAL in a large, all-through school. She is very much so looking forward to working at Reach Academy!
Sarah graduated from the University of Exeter in 2008 with a BA Honours in History and International Relations. After graduation Sarah worked in the charity sector working for a variety of youth organisations, before deciding that she would like to pursue a career in teaching History. Sarah joined Reach Academy in 2015 teaching History and Geography.
Sophie graduated from the University of Sheffield with an Honours degree in English Literature. She later completed a Master’s degree in Global Politics at Birkbeck, University of London. Sophie spent four years living and working in Paris after graduation followed by a year in Argentina. Sophie joined Reach Academy in 2013. She is enjoying being part of the community at Reach and working closely with the students in Thames and Don.
Megha graduated from Durham University with a BSc in Natural Sciences (Archaeology with Biology). Before coming to Reach, she taught History in a school in Hackney and worked recruiting teachers from the South West of England. Megha loves hot chocolate, walking and also plays the drums! She is looking forward to overseeing the first Sixth Form cohort at Reach Academy.
James graduated from Durham University with a BSc in physics having changed subject from engineering after one year. He went straight into teaching science in a challenging school on the south coast and set up the A Level physics course in his first year. While continuing to teach science, he also became head of the ICT department, leading its transition to computer science. In 2016, he oversaw the first computer science GCSE cohort completing the course alongside finishing a Masters in Transformational Leadership. After an interim year leading science intervention in a large school in Surrey, James is immensely looking forward to leading an enthusiastic team and spreading his passion for science.
Craig graduated with a music degree from the University of Southampton in 2013. During his time at university he was in a number of music ensembles and bands playing trombone and bass guitar. He has been fortunate enough to perform alongside and learn from some world class orchestral and jazz musicians and has had to opportunity to play all over Europe. Craig began his teaching career at a School in Portsmouth as part of the ARK teacher training programme. He is a passionate believer that music is for everyone and is relishing the chance to be part of the team at Reach Academy. He is married to Laura and in his spare time he plays football and watches all things sport related.
Samantha graduated from the University of Brighton with a BA Honours degree in Physical Education in 2010. Samantha has been a teacher in London for 7 years and has been at Reach since 2014. Samantha is dedicated to pupils developing a life-long passion in having a healthy active lifestyle. She believes that Physical Education is integral part of building a pupil’s confidence and self-esteem. In 2015 Samantha was shortlisted in the top 5 for Sky Sports Teacher of the year award.
Suzanne holds a degree in Art and Design and a Diploma in Foundation Studies in Art and Design from the University of Ulster, from which she graduated in 2006. After a one-year placement working in a school for children with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities, she decided to apply for a PGCE. Since qualifying in 2008, Suzanne has worked in a variety of schools in Northern Ireland teaching Art, Media Studies and Moving Image Arts alongside a range of community Arts projects and adult evening classes – anything that helps people to enjoy and express their creativity! Simultaneously, Suzanne established and ran a successful creative business selling artwork and crafts. She moved to London in 2015 to join the team at Reach Academy.
Originally from Sutton, Jack travelled north to complete a BA in History at the University of Sheffield in 2014. Deciding that he wanted to remain in the Yorkshire and Humberside region, he joined a school in Grimsby to complete the two-year Teach First programme. After staying an extra year as second in department for English, Jack was drawn back down from Humberside by the appeal of Reach Academy’s river-themed class names, and has made it his personal mission to ensure that ‘Humber’ finds its way onto that list soon!
Arthur graduated from the University of Oxford with a First Class Honours in English, before completing a Master’s degree at King’ss
College London in 2014. Following this, Arthur joined Reach Academy as a Tutor Fellow, where he spent six months supporting students with
English and DEAR. In 2015, Arthur was one of the first Teach First participants to be placed on the Isle of Wight, teaching English at a
secondary academy. Having returned to the mainland to rejoin Reach Academy, Arthur enjoys playing music with friends and going to concerts.
Sarah has an honours degree in English Literature and Film and Media. She has had a successful career as a Marketing Director where she has held global roles on the board of various PLCs. She has worked in London, Bristol, Edinburgh, Australia, Africa and North America. She has also run her own marketing consultancy. Sarah is passionate about ensuring that all pupils have the opportunities in life that they deserve. Her passion for education drove her to embark on a career change and she trained to teach English through the Teach First programme. Sarah loves working at Reach Academy and lives in St Margarets with her husband and son.
Emily graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2011, having studied geography. Emily worked in education for two years before training with Teach First and teaching at a large academy in London for a number of years. Emily has lived in many different countries around the world (her favourite being Chile!), which has contributed hugely to her love of geography.
Messaouda graduated from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in 2016 with a First Class Honours degree in History. She received an offer to train as a secondary History teacher at Reach Academy with Ark Teacher Training in 2017. Up until she started training Messaouda worked as a Tutor Fellow at Reach in 2016 where she gained invaluable experience working in a secondary school. In her spare time she likes to travel, read and volunteer.
Yazmin graduated from University College London in 2010 with a BSc Hons in Mathematics. She joined team Reach in September 2016 after completing the Teach First programme down in Kent and is extremely excited to continue her career at Reach Academy. Yazmin is now teaching A-Level Mathematics in our new Sixth Form and is looking forward to expanding this to include A-Level Further Mathematics in the near future!
Tyler graduated with first class honours in Physics from the University of Southampton. She started working at Reach Academy Feltham shortly after this as she wanted to work in a school before starting teacher training in 2014. Tyler supported pupils in Maths and Science for years 7 and 8 and decided to stay and train to teach at Reach as a maths teacher starting in 2014. She now teaches Year 8 maths and is a year 8 form tutor and hopes to stay at Reach Academy to further develop her practice.
“In the coming years I look forward to the age gap between our primary and secondary pupils closing; I would love to be able to teach a cohort of pupils who have been at Reach since the age of 4 – it will be an exciting challenge!”
Tim graduated from the University of Leeds in 2013 with a degree in Portuguese and Spanish. He also spent a year studying at PUC university in Rio de Janeiro. After a short lived career in TV, Tim joined Reach in September 2016 as a Maths teacher and completed the Ark teacher training programme. In his spare time Tim loves films, music and DIY projects.
Ben was educated at St Bartholomew’s School and the University of Leeds, where he graduated with Honours in Biology. Following his degree, Ben was elected to the role of Vice-President for Education at the University of Leeds. His teaching career began in North London as part of the Teach First programme where he taught Science, following which he moved to a British International School in South Malaysia, where he taught Biology and was also a Deputy Housemaster. He joined Reach Academy as 2iC Science in 2017. When Ben isn’t bent over a microscope, he can be found playing sports, watching David Attenborough or reading a Harry Hole thriller.
Hannah graduated from the University of Bath in 2009 with an Honours degree in European Studies & Modern Languages. After graduating, she spent a year in Buenos Aires, Argentina teaching English as a Foreign Language and developing an Argentine accent. In 2010-11 she spent a year working at International House in Katowice, Poland where she enjoyed learning Polish and eating dumplings. In 2012 she transferred to International House Buenos Aires where she supported staff development for 2 years as Assistant Director of Studies. Hannah believes 100% in Reach’s vision for its pupils and is very excited to be teaching French and Spanish in a school that truly values the importance of languages. She is also really looking forward to organising international trips for Modern Languages students.
Sophie graduated from the University of Southampton with a BSc in Psychology. After taking part in the Undergraduate Ambassadors scheme at university where she taught an adult psychology class, she decided to pursue a career in education. Sophie began her teacher training in 2016 with the University of Sussex. She then found Reach and decided to swap living by the sea in Hastings for life in the city!
Andrew graduated from the University of East Anglia with a BA hons degree in American Historyin 2007. He spent a year studying abroad in America specialising in World War II and the Vietnam War. After he graduated he spent 4 months in Tanzania on an education and wildlife conservation project. Andrew completed his PGCE at St Mary’s University in Twickenham in 2014. Outside of school Andrew enjoys triathlon, cycling and travelling.
Georgia has over 10 years experience working with at risk and vulnerable young people and adults, and supporting their emotional and behavioural needs. Georgia graduated from the University of the West of England with a BSc in Psychology and has gained additional qualifications in the study of Children and Young people and in Working with families with complex needs.
Siobhan has worked within the west of Hounslow for almost 11 years so has great knowledge of the needs of the local community. During the 15 years she has worked with families and young people, she has qualified in Careers and Guidance, Youth and Community Work and is a trained NLP Master Practitioner. She combines all these to create tailored 1-1 coaching and group programmes to support the social, emotional and behavioural needs of the young people she works with.
