We know that effective communication with parents is critical to your child being successful at Reach. We are committed to making sure that parents are fully informed about life at the school and use a range of strategies to ensure that this happens.
Before pupils join the school we do home visits to ensure that parents and pupils understand the systems and structures in the school and are able to ask all of their questions. The visit enables teachers to gather information about the new pupils’ interests and strengths and ends with a commitment from parent, pupil and staff.
Once school starts we have a series of workshops that introduce parents to all aspects of their child’s learning and set them up to able to support them. Some of these are for all parents and others are by invitation when we think that pupils’ needs mean that they would benefit from additional support at home.
We also have other events, including parenting workshops and talks by our school nurse and other professionals, in addition to a new PTA, Reach And Parents, which is running termly events for parents to socialise together.
We send home calendars and regular letters and newsletters, informing parents about what is happening at school and how they can support. All of these are also shared by email.
Finally parents can always contact staff by email, phone or in person at pick-up or drop-off time.
